I have to confess something, I enjoy watching YouTube videos showing the work in Japanese restaurants, all the preparation from kitchen to dining room, before the customers arrive, until they sit and order food, especially small restaurants offering only classic meals, so not sushis.
I became obsessed with Katsu-Don, which is rice topped with paned breaded chicken and covered with a small omelette. It’s very hypnotic to watch the cook preparing it.
After active research, I found a family-owned snack restaurant in downtown Montreal. It has existed since 2014, is open only at lunchtime, Monday to Friday, and is affordable and delicious. No surprise that my local friends who went to McGill University on the other side of the street knew about it.
Finding the place is a bit tricky at first because it is located in a quiet food court under a conference center. But follow the sign restaurant, and you will find it. I haven’t tried all the meals on their menu, but soon I will complete this mission. So far, Katsu-Don, Unagi Toji-Don, and Tori-Don have been really good.
One last thing it's cash only.
