Hidden behind the Nõmme Sports Center lies a peaceful green park, perfect for escaping the summer heat. Under the tall trees, you can sit by a gentle stream with a book and listen to birdsong all around you.
This quiet spot is home to many forest birds. Great spotted woodpeckers drum on tree trunks, while nuthatches scurry up and down the bark, often headfirst. The peacefulness of the area, with few cars and many old trees, makes it a great place for observing birds — even if you’re just starting out.
Nearby, you’ll find a small family cemetery with a fascinating past. It belonged to Nikolai von Glehn, the man who founded Nõmme and built the manor that still stands nearby. After the death of his wife Carolina in 1896, he established this cemetery. Later, his grandchildren Barbara, Maria, and Ulrich were buried here.
