I've been following Alon Shabo's baking creations for a few years now on Instagram and while I was always amazed how he is able to make such beautiful designs, I secretly wondered what his cakes actually taste like. For me and everyone else wondering, he finally opened a store in Tel Aviv! The bakery is very modern in variations of pink and only has a few seats inside. But you can just get a cake or a croissant for takeaway - it comes in a beautiful pink box - and sit in the new compound between Haaliya and Chlenov Street. My favourite is the lemon chocolate cake; it not only looks great, it also has a lovely mix of flavours. Perfect with an ice coffee on the side.
If you fell in love with it, you can also sneak into the windows of Alon Shabo's studio nearby at Hakishon Street 48, where he regularly holds workshops for amateurs and professionals. If you don't make it to the south of Tel Aviv, try the second store in the center of Tel Aviv on Sheinkin 26.
