Whenever I want to chill with a coffee or cocktail after work, Givon Square is the place I like to go to. Although Givon Square is in central Tel Aviv, between the Cinematek and the Fashion Mall, few Tel Avivians know about it. It was converted to a public piazza with a lightened fountain, colorful chairs, many restaurants & bars and even a corner with plants and flowers – but has still kept its rough industrial charm.
During the week, I like to have beer or cocktails with friends at Schnitt, a brewing company with a nice outside sitting area on the square – my favourite is their Julius Cocktail with Tonic with the Mississippi Hush Puppies Polenta & Beer Balls to snack on the side, but they have all kinds of tasty self brewed beers.
On Friday mornings, a breakfast sandwich at Lechamim Bakery is very much recommended, especially if you, like me, love all kinds of artisan bread and pastry. After that, I like taking a stroll over the antique market on the square.
And don’t forget to pass by Buza (Arabic for Ice Cream) and get an ice cream for dessert – my favourite is the Choco-Mint!
