One of the most recognizable sights in Tirana is Scanderbeg Square, which is situated in the city’s center. It has undergone numerous renovations and restorations throughout the years, each time becoming a more stunning and expansive area. With a new design that combines tiles from several Albanian cities, the square has experienced yet another transformation.

Walking through Scanderbeg Square is a truly unique experience. As you make your way across the square, you will notice that the pavement is made up of tiles that come from different cities throughout Albania. What’s even more interesting is that the names of these cities are inscribed on some of the tiles, making it a fun activity to try and spot them with your friends. The tiles are arranged randomly, which adds to the square’s charm and individuality.

Me and my friends have tried many times to find the city names but have failed successfully each time. So, if you see some people scooting over and looking down like they’ve lost something at this exact place, it’s us.

The monument of Scanderbeg himself is what distinguishes Scanderbeg Square. This legendary Albanian hero stands proudly on the square, towering over passersby and reminding them of the country’s rich history and culture. The statue is a sight to behold, and it’s worth pausing to appreciate the attention to detail and skill that went into its production.
