It’s early on a Friday evening when we roll into Goods & Provisions, happy to still find a couple of bar seats. Our luck gets even better when our bartender Lauren happily informs us that it’s Happy Hour. We order Old Fashions for only $10.
This shouldn’t be confused with an “Old Fascist,” which tops their specialty cocktail menu. Clearly the concoctions are popular because our bartender is often seen exercising her arm muscles with shakers rattling over both shoulders.
Goods & Provisions isn’t just a bar. It’s a great bar! It’s also a wonderful restaurant that serves a wide array of cheese and charcuterie apps, and mains of fish and game. On a previous visit, my dinner companion remarked that his diver scallops were the best he’d ever tasted. Perhaps it was the romesco sauce and scallion oil that dripped off them, or their plump juiciness. Whatever the reason, I gushed in agreement.
Don’t be deceived by the place's quiet appearance from the street. Inside the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. This is clearly a place for people looking for some fun with their wining and dining. And, antlers! What? Taxidermists will appreciate the collection of deer heads and birds that sport the walls. They truly form an eclectic trophy for your eyes.
What's Spot On:
• There is a story behind the stuffed wildlife that involves a bow & arrow, but you’ll have to ask front of house owner/manager Nikki for more on that.
• Save on certain cocktails and wine from 17:30 to 19:00.
