I'm matcha obsessed. When my good friend asked if I wanted to check out Little Peebles, a new cafe in Toronto's Kensington Market serving up matcha lattes and other Japanese-inspired desserts, I couldn't grab my purse and camera fast enough.
Located in a small storefront on Baldwin Street, the interior is very fresh - muted colours, wood accents and soft lighting makes this a very zen spot, except for the many people coming and going from the cafe. Their drink selection is great - offering a variety of herbal tea as well as matcha, kinako, and black sesame lattes which are available as hot or iced. I went for an iced matcha latte which was $5.30 - it was smooth and delicious especially on this particularly hot day. As for the desserts - they have so many beautiful and interesting options it was almost overwhelming. My friend got the sakura blossom tiramisu which has infused jelly on top with a sakura blossom as decoration. Other pastry options include mochi, chiffon cakes, sponge cakes, tiramisus, and panna cotta - all of which are made in house.
Overall - it's a cute place and stands out amongst other cafes in Kensington. A bit pricey for a quick snack, but it's definitely a fun experience to enjoy some authentic Japanese desserts, especially when they're all so photogenic!
