Our country has a long legacy of Asian stores called tokos. The word toko is of Indonesian origin, and most of these stores are a reflection of the cultural exchange rooted in the Dutch colonial history, serving products from countries such as Indonesia, Suriname, China, and beyond.
Most cities have such a store, and Utrecht is blessed with one of the best, namely Amazing Oriental. The store has two locations in the city, with the one in shopping mall Hoog Catherijne being the most centrally located.
This is a true candy shop for foodies such as myself, with endless products from countries all over the world you won't find anywhere else. The location in Hoog Catharijne also has a decent take-out restaurant with amazing lunch meals ready to devour.
