Climbing for kids
Utrecht has several bouldering gyms, but Zuidhaven is a real gem if you’re looking for a fun outing with kids! It’s not the first activity you might think of, but especially on a rainy day, it guarantees a few hours of adventure and play.
Children as young as two are welcome here. Zuidhaven features Klautereiland (“Clamber Island”), a dedicated kids’ area with low bouldering walls, child-friendly routes, and even a climbing block with a tunnel and slide. The walls are designed for little climbers, so it’s perfect for a younger crowd.
Parents aren’t forgotten either. There’s a comfy lounge area, a bar for drinks, and overall, the atmosphere is far calmer than your typical indoor play center.
Do keep in mind that an adult must always accompany the kids (a good excuse to enjoy that sofa and coffee!), and reservations are required on weekends and public holidays.
