Just a few meters from the most famous pastry shop in Venice, Tonolo, there’s another amazing opportunity to taste croissants, cakes and pastries called Dolcevita.
The iconic name of this modern, cozy place well represents the atmosphere and the taste of its products.
The first time I went there it was with two friends visiting to try the house specialty: handcrafted filled cornetti. Firstly you choose the dough: made with or without butter, with normal or whole-grain wheat, etc.
Then the fun part, the fillings: there’s a wide selection of creams, crumbs and toppings to fill your cornetto with. I personally recommend crema pasticcera with pistacchio crumb and amarena topping — a lovely combination.
All the pastry products, sweet and salty, are daily made and within the selection there are also the frittelle veneziane, a typical carnival sweet; there’s also an organic section.
There are nice small sitting spots just next to the big glass windows, perfect to chill and chat while waiting for your incoming meal.
It’s a must-try for an informal and really typical Italian breakfast!
