801 is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants in DC because they always have something going on in each season. The main draw is their stunning rooftop. It provides a great view of the activity going on in the neighborhood of Shaw.
801 also offers an affordable brunch deal with moderately priced entrees plus bottomless mimosas for $20/person. 801 features two floors of indoor dining plus outdoor street dining. However, the rooftop is the best place to be - make a reservation before noon for better odds of getting a seat.
The mimosas are mix-your-own and come with four juice flavors plus a bottle of champagne. I always really appreciate this because I can manage the sugar juice in my drinks a little more. For entrees, my favorites are avocado toast, street tacos, and french toast.
The rooftop is covered, heated, and decorated seasonally. One of my favorite times to visit the Rooftop at 801 is the winter when most rooftops are closed. Even after the holidays have ended, 801 decorates the rooftop with winter-themed lights and garland. The area gives the illusion of drinking outside even on the coldest days.
