Yaroslava is definitely one of the oldest and most loved restaurants among locals and visitors. I remember this place from my childhood. In 1947 there was already a cafe here but with a different name. Yaroslava is situated in the very heart of Kyiv, a 5 minutes walk from Golden Gate metro station. On the first floor there’s a big restaurant hall. There’s also a hall downstairs.
The restaurant serves Eastern European food and its interior is designed in Old Slavonic style, including the staff’s outfits. But I want to tell you about this little patties cafe attached to the restaurant. They sell small patties called “pirozhki” with different filings – sweet and salty. Always freshly baked and yummy! I recommend to try the one with eggs and green onion, with cabbage, with spinach and sweet ones with cherries and with apples. Also order a very nice hot bouillon to accompany the salty ones and a cocoa drink for dessert.
