Once you’ve gone down the creaky stairs of Kina Li, and are met by a jumble of plastic flowers, stickers, soy bowls and various ornaments on countless shelves – the outside world is soon forgotten. You’ve ended up in a basement full of things you didn’t know you needed, until you’ve found them.
Kina Li is located at one of the busiest streets on Södermalm and is the largest importer of Asian products and groceries in Sweden. On the outside it looks like a forlorn tobacco shop or some sort of fallen wholesale, and I guess that’s why it gets overlooked by most passersby and stays unknown.
I find Kina Li unique due to its timeless assortment and beautiful mess, which creates a kind of bittersweet charm. And besides the soulful atmosphere – it’s also a store good for knick-knack enthusiasts, groceries shopping, birthday present hunting, as well as broadening your interior and cultural horizons.
