Once you’ve gone down the creaky stairs of Kina Li, and are met by a jumble of plastic flowers, stickers, soy bowls, and various ornaments on countless shelfs – the outside world is soon forgotten. You’ve ended up in a magical basement full of things you didn’t know you needed until you found it.
Kina Li is located at one of the busiest streets on Södermalm, and is the largest importer of Asian products and groceries in Sweden. On the outside it looks like a lorn tobacco shop or some sort of fallen wholesale: and I guess that’s why it gets overlooked by most passersby – and stays quite unknown.
I find Kina Li unique, its timeless assortment and beautiful mess creates such a bittersweet charm. And besides the soulful atmosphere, it’s also a store good for knick-knack enthusiasts, food, birthday present shopping, as well as broadening your interior and cultural horizons.
