Although not the only Irish Pub in Frankfurt, Waxy’s is definitely my favorite. The gloomy interior creates a cozy but enjoyable atmosphere. Sitting down on the wooden benches with your beer of choice (usually Guinness) almost feels like coming home. Add a plate of their signature slow-cooked ribs to the mix, and you will understand why I like it here.
Since Waxy’s is very popular among foreigners in Frankfurt, you shouldn’t be surprised if your waitress only speaks English. After all, it is an Irish pub! Hence their selection of typical drinks: different brands of stout beer, apple cider, and a whole selection of whiskey.
But what would a real Irish pub be without a karaoke night? At Waxy’s they have it twice a week: Friday and Saturday. Nobody will mind if you actually can sing or not, so you don’t have to be shy. Just grab your friends, grab the mic, and give it a try. While most people come here for drinks, they also offer a few snacks and warm dishes. My favorite are the BBQ ribs, but their burgers and chicken wings aren’t bad either.
And like almost every bar in the city, Waxy’s of course also shows the games of the European Football Cup. So if you don’t feel like watching at home, just come by!
