If you are a fan of Sunday brunches but are looking for a bit more adventure on your plate than, let’s say, a croissant and an omelet, then Bar Vert might be just what you need. Bar Vert is ideally located, at the Groen Kwartier, one of Antwerp’s most booming locations. On weekdays they serve Middle Eastern-inspired flatbreads that you can also transform into a salad if you are in a less carbohydrate mood.
Regulars on the menu are for example Flatbread Prosciutto with arugula, artichoke tapenade, zucchini and pickled fennel or Flatbread Aubergine Curry with arugula, mint labneh, caramelized walnuts, raisins, pomegranate, fresh herbs Finish your lunch with an oat milk cappuccino and you are good to go.
What I love most, is coming here on Sundays, that’s when they pull out the big culinary guns. Think stacks of French toast or pancakes with seasonal fruit, labneh and maple syrup. The Sunday brunch menu changes every so often, but if you can spot an oeuf en cocotte on the big paper menu on the window or walls, then I can only truly recommend it. Fresh greens, salmon, herbs and eggs coming out of the oven well seasoned but most of all so tasty... Yes, you will want to come back for more one day!

A classic is the pizza Calabrese with spicy salami, paprika, tomato, and mozzarella. Ask for some grilled onions on top to make it even tastier (you can thank me later).
