Indy Guide – Great Local Guides in Central Asia & Caucasus!

Countries in the Caucasus and Central Asia are not widely visited, and we are hoping to change this a little bit by expanding our network to cities like Yerevan & Tbilisi (launched last year) and hopefully soon Baku and Tashkent.

When we started exploring this part of the world, we pretty soon came across Indy Guide – an independent organization that offers the largest network of local guides, drivers and tours in – as they nicely put it – “underrated destinations” in Central Asia, Caucasus, Russia & Mongolia.

Through Indy Guide’s locals you get to explore these countries through the eyes of the local people. Much like Spotted by Locals, they offer a selection of destinations that are unknown, but a true must-see. Only difference of course: we share tips to spots (apps & blogs), they offer services.

However, this is not the only common ground we have with Indy Guide. Overtourism is a growing global issue, and we both want to help change this by encouraging travelers to visit places in the world where tourism is actually adding value to life locally. By using Indy Guide’s services for example, you can help  local people by investing in their authentic culture and local markets. You’re not just expanding your horizon, you are helping others while doing it.

We thought it would be a great idea to work together to make more people show this amazing but little visited part of the world. Founder Ati helped us get in touch with some very nice people in the region and we hope to keep helping each other in the future!
