Yerevan (by Vahagn Vardumyan)
Today we launched our 68th city blog: Spotted by Locals Yerevan!
We’re proud to have launched of one of the few up to date city guides on the capital of Armenia, but it’s actually ridiculous how little attention there is for this city… Yerevan is older than Rome, it has more inhabitants than most European capitals (1.1 million), it’s full of ancient and modern culture. And of course there are many super cool spots locals like to visit… a few examples:
- Yerevan Lake – where a terrible accident in 1976 involving a true hero who rescued 20 people was kept secret and did not spread until the Soviet Union fell apart in the 80s.
- A small restaurant that serves only one dish you’ve probably never had: Jengyalov Hac – a specialty from the Republic of Artsakh (alternatively known as the Republic of Nagarno-Karabakh).
- A wine factory based in a 16th century fort where you can taste the best local brandy & wine our Spotter Sofia has ever tasted
Yes, high time for you to visit!
The articles you can read on the blog now are just the tip of the iceberg. Most of the articles Spotters Alan, Arpi, Arpi (yes 2), Nerses, Raffi, Sofia & Vahagn are writing haven’t been published yet. So stay tuned!
