Today an interview with Lotta Zachrisson, Spotter for our Stockholm cityblog. We met Lotta in Stockholm in 2008.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a curious soul. I’ve lived most of my life in Stockholm but the travel bug caught me early on. I’ve now visited about 40 countries and luckily enough I can support this habit with my writing. I’m also a sociable food and wine loving movie buff, who’s into art, dancing, photography, nature, spelunking, drinking coffee for hours as well as one of my favorite hobbies of trying to find the perfect beach.

Do you have a nice Spotters-story?
It was great meeting the other fellow Stockholm spotters and we decided immediately to throw a release party when our city blog was published. We held it together with Couchsurfing.com which is another great site for people who like to experience places like a local. It was a really fun night on Pet Sounds Bar one of my long standing favorite spots.

Why Stockholm?
Stockholm might not be the biggest tourist destination but that is one of its attractions. If you are a traveller looking for local spots you will usually be the only non-Swede there. Stockholm might also be one of the most beautiful cities in the world completely surrounded by water. And if you can break through the Swedish reserve people are super friendly and they will include you by speaking great English.

What is a must do when you visiting Stockholm? What not?
If you come in summer or spring you have to try your hand at the lawn game “kubb”, preferably during a picnic in a park. Swedes have gone completely crazy over this game and on nice days you can see heaps of people playing it. Buy your own for around 100-200 SEK or bring a bag-in-box wine, a sure way to make friends, and approach a group who already has a set.

What not? Avoid all bars around the central city (T-Centralen) area. Full of people who haven’t found the good spots yet.

Can you describe a perfect day in your city?
The perfect day in Stockholm is always a warm spring or early summers day (which doesn’t happen that much). I would start with some friends at café Svart Kaffe, buy a picnic bag and sit down on Nytorget to watch people and get some sun.

We might pass by Beyond Retro to look at some cool vintage dresses or shoes and then continue on a little walk on Södermalm.

Days when I have time to wander I go up to Ivar Los Park to again realise what a beautiful city this is and then I would continue down towards Hornstull where you can get close to the water – either down towards Långholmen or just towatch it from the outdoor seats of café Copacabana.

If more hungry or in need of a pretty good priced cold beer I would make a stop at tapas restaurant Ramblas or at Indian Garden (which is not my spot but still excellent).

When the evening comes more people would join and we would probably end up in the park Tantolunden for some wine, bbq for those still hungry and good conversation while the sun never sets.
