There is a line outside of Ball Cafe Square every weekend and the reason why is clear. They make simply the best breakfast in this little corner of Somerville. Plates piled high with pancakes, french toast under mountains of fruit and syrup, and of course classic omelettes stuffed with veggies.
Ball Square Cafe is my favorite place to go for brunch in my neighborhood. It’s a small, intimate little cafe with sidewalk seating in the summertime. There is always a line out the front door on the weekends because the food is just that good. Parties of two will get seated very quickly, larger parties may need to wait.
Inside, coffee, tea, and water are self serve but they also have fresh juice you can order. They don’t serve alcohol so if you’re hoping for a boozy brunch this isn’t your place. But, if you’re hoping for soft, fluffy, perfectly cooked pancakes or decadent French toast made with the best bread you’ve ever tasted, you’re at the right restaurant.
My personal favorite? The blueberry pancakes. Ask for the real maple syrup.
