Previously known as Sassafras, Eat At Jumbo's is a colorful little restaurant nestled in the heart of Somerville's Ball Square. At first glance, it might seem to be your typical, over-the-top American fare - pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. Look closer, though, and you'll realize why I love this place: all the vegan/veggie junk food you could wish for. Don't worry, carnivores, there are plenty of traditional meat dishes for you too!
The menu at Eat At Jumbo's is humongous (jumbo-sized, you might say?), and all the dishes I’ve tried to date are exceptional. I’d recommend starting with their Steezy Bread (normal or vegan) or Garlic Knots. Their pizza menu is filled with enticing combinations - including a whopping 9+ Vegan options. All their “meat” entrees are impeccable - I'm particularly a fan of their Tofu Tenders and Seitan sandwiches - and don't forget to check out their local beer menu. Whatever you order, I guarantee you’ll be as happy as a (imitation) clam!
