When I heard that it had opened about two years ago, I, a devoted Turkish coffee lover, knew I had to check it out. Could I find a cup as good as the one I make at home? The answer came quickly: Absolutely! Served in beautiful Istanbul-themed cups, the coffee was flawless. On subsequent visits, I explored the menu further, trying the iced chai latte and cortado—both of which impressed me just as much.
Sip of Joy, a cozy family-run café in the South End, blends Turkish and American flavors in a bright, minimalist space. With various seating options and a charming outdoor patio, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a great cup of coffee
Beyond great drinks, the café boasts an irresistible selection of pastries, both sweet and savory. You’ll find Turkish delights like simit and börek alongside American classics such as quiche, croissants, walnut cake, raspberry crumb bars and pumpkin cheesecake.
What truly draws me to Sip of Joy goes beyond the flavors. In every city I visit, I seek out quiet corners where I can retreat with my notebook, a good book, and a cup of coffee—places where I can write, read, and simply enjoy the moment. This café offers exactly that: high-quality coffee, delicious treats, and a peaceful, thoughtfully designed space. And judging by the regulars who frequent it, I’m not alone in my appreciation.
Now that you know about this little gem, are you sure you still want to head to Starbucks?
