Between the bars, Indian food, pizza, sandwich shops, and seafood options, it's all too easy to overeat in bustling, packed Inman Square. But be sure to save some room, because Christina's Ice Cream is a post-dinner or mid-afternoon must.
When you enter the cheerily painted storefront, you'll often see other patrons regarding the board that lists the flavors of the day with deep concentration. This is because there are 50 flavors of ice cream on offer, both standards and seasonal and unusual options - to say nothing of the half-dozen dairy-free sorbets, or the frozen yogurt.
With the jam-packed sister store, Christina's Spice & Specialty Foods, right next door, it's no wonder that some of the best flavors are the unexpected ones, such as orange chocolate and ginger molasses (like eating gingerbread men, but better.) If you can't decide, the counter workers will be glad to offer you tastes of the flavors you're considering. Because the ice cream is rich and flavorful, I usually find a small suffices, but those with larger appetites swear by the sundaes.
