Sharing this place almost feels like revealing one of my grandma’s secret recipes. Altair teaház was actually discovered by an old Lithuanian friend of mine during his trip to Budapest, so the credit goes to him! It seems that for some, it takes years to uncover such hidden gems, while for others, it only takes a few days.
I must confess, every time I passed by this place on my way to a friend’s house nearby, I used to see the tea house’s weird looking wooden door from the outside and I wondered what could this be. By peeking inside I have seen some tents and some bean bags , but I really was not sure until my friend invited me to this charming tea house and since then it has been one of my favorite places.
You can’t go wrong with any tea choice here, but my personal go-tos are the rose and caramel teas, which I always accompany with a few biscuits dipped into the melted sweetness. Have a try on your way in or out to the Hungarian National Museum, which is just next door! Cheers!
