The authentic restaurant or rather 'eating house' is a perfect choice for those who want to experience typical Hungarian cuisine and do not want to wait for ages for their food to be served. And the prices are pleasantly friendly, which explains the popularity of the place among locals and those tourists who are lucky to find it.
The atmosphere will send you back to the late 1980s. Some even claim that the staff also dresses in a somewhat vintage style. The minimalistic but cozy interior, atmospheric paintings on the walls, and plastic tablecloth create an unforgettable feeling of something familiar and welcoming. Almost like a round-the-corner canteen from your childhood. This may be the reason we used to have get-together dinners here with my friends.
You can find famous Hungarian dishes such as gulyás, layered potatoes, roast á la Brasov, and paprika mushroom stew (vegetarian!), but I would recommend trying some of the typical local dishes that you probably have not heard before as they did not gain fame outside Hungary: pea főzelek, fruit soup, pasta with poppy seeds. And leave place for dessert. I would recommend trying Somlói galuska which is a pleasant comfort food for all those who have a sweet tooth.
