Sarki Fűszeres is a beloved café in the heart of the XIII. district. Locals come here mostly on the weekends or on special days for breakfast, lunch, or an evening drink.
It has an iconic triangle-shaped terrace with a beautiful arbor above it, well-known to people in the neighborhood. Inside, there's also a mezzanine level with some tables, which is a cozy spot to sip tea on colder days.
Prices are on the higher side, as with most cafés in this area, but its classic atmosphere and the quality of food and drinks make it worth it.
I also enjoy coming here for its closeness to Szent István Park — a small, green leisure park near the Danube, perfect for reading, hanging out with friends, or simply relaxing on the grass while enjoying the view of the Buda hills and Margaret Island.
If you're in the mood for something small and sweet, try their Flódni, a traditional Jewish dessert.
Sarki Fűszeres also operates as a deli, they have a selection of local products and specialty items like some fancy chocolates.
