The story behind Cehov Square is quite amazing. It is a small park area right in the city center located in front of Cehov Theater. The theater is quite old and rarely opens for plays. The square area has been renovated after a successful crowdfunding campaign organised by civic activists. It is a place created by the community for the community. Nowadays it is the perfect place to lay on the grass and read a book or simply enjoy the nice weather. Right across the street from Cehov Square is a nice bookstore called Librarius where they have an English book section.
Cehov Square has benches for seating and there even is a small coffee truck next to it. Young people in Chișinău know it because of the crowdfunding project. They raised 15,000 euros and it was the first project of this kind. Enjoy!
