Chisinau is truly considered one of the greenest cities in Europe. It was made possible due to the soviet plan of urban growth in the Moldovan capital. Thus, different districts of Chisinau are separated by huge so-called park-forest areas. It means that next to the streets, there are these green areas that look like parks with benches and lights, but if you go deeper, you will find yourself in a forest.
One of the most beautiful but still underestimated green area is ”La Izvor” city lake. Everyone knows about Valea Morilor City Lake and goes there. Sometimes, on Sundays, Valea Morilor is just overcrowded. The best alternative is La Izvor lake. La Izvor means "at the spring", as a lot of springs are "feeding" the lake. There are plenty of walking paths surrounding the lake, so you can easily ride your bike here.
What makes this place so special is its absolute tranquility and nice views. You can see people swimming in the lake, jogging or playing beach volleyball. Perhaps the coolest thing you can do is rent a boat (just 3 Euro for each hour) and swim to the island with the cave right in the middle of the lake. Cool experience, trust me!
So, if you have several days to explore Chisinau and you want to see something different and not just the historical center, La Izvor city lake is one of the best spots to visit.
