In the middle of a nice neighborhood lies café ‘Wo is Tom?’.
The room inside is bright and friendly, with a gallery and a large glass front that can be opened to the outside seats in summer.
But ‘café’ alone is the wrong expression.
The dishes on offer exceed the normal range of a café.
Wo ist Tom? (Which means ‘Where is Tom?’) offers a wide range of hot foods, such as foccaccias, quesadillas, pancakes, soups, stews, salads and you can have breakfast all day long! The breakfast menu alone is three pages long!
Vegetarians and vegans will also find an extensive menu here.
In addition to many beverages, partly self-made, (for example, smoothies, iced tea, etc.), there are also numerous coffee specialties on the menu or teas with fresh mint or ginger. Caffeine-free, lactose-free or with soy milk? No problem.
This is complemented by a changing weekly menu, which I often use with a co-worker for lunch.
Oh, and did I mention all the homemade cakes? For example, Mango-passion fruit-cheesecake? Or blueberry-mascarpone cake? Hmmmm...
But why is the Café called Wo ist Tom?
Tom was the founder of a nationwide social organization, which campaigns for more rights of people with special needs. And this cafe offers jobs and training places for those people.
