If you like water and walks as much as I do, you will certainly enjoy this spot. Away from the busy and crowded city center, what can be better than a nice quiet walk along a canal or a river? There are three rivers in Dublin: the most central one - Liffey, another one that starts in the North West of Dublin and ends near the Grand Canal - river Tolka, and river Dodder, the largest part of Liffey that starts in the Wicklow mountains and goes all the way up to Dublin town.
On a day without rain nothing is better for me than a relaxed walk or even a picnic somewhere near a river, and the river Dodder is a good place for that, since parts of it are located in Ballsbridge, the South of Dublin, close to the city center. The pedestrian road along the river in Ballsbridge area is well built and equipped with some benches and balcony-like view points. By the way, there is a nice view over the huge construction of the Aviva stadium nearby.
Bring some bread or seeds if you want to feed the ducks and swans peacefully swimming along the river. This spot is only 15 minutes walk from the city center, try it yourself!
