I've already written about our love of beer in Edinburgh. And it's been great to see pubs begin to open back up and return to normality after lockdown. However, I'm still not keen to go back into packed pubs where you have to elbow your way to the bar, which is why I was excited to discover Campervan Brewery Taproom.
It's not a new place - the brewery and taproom have both been here since 2017 - but it is the perfect place for a post-lockdown pint while still maintaining some extra covid precautions.
The brewery is tucked away amongst an industrial estate off Leith Walk, not the sort of place you'd stumble past. Campervan make the beer inside and the taproom, for the moment, is entirely outside.
There's a container with a bar, serving 10 beers of tap as well as a wide choice of cans and bottles in the fridge. They showcase not only the Campervan beers but also other craft breweries. Seating is at picnic tables and drinks can be ordered via table service.
Leith Juice is probably the most well-known of the Campervan beers, you often find it on tap in bars around Edinburgh. It has an orange flavour so not really my thing, I prefer a Leith Pils, although recently I've been trying their limited edition Trainspotting beer. The book and movie are both set in Leith so it seems very apt!
