With the promise of the trams (10 looong years in the making), Leith walk is seeing a burst of cool new shops and restaurants, predominantly relaxed cultural coffee shops and laid-back wine bars. Green. Leith is a refreshing and colourful addition to the well-known street, the second in its kind following their parent store in the Meadows.
The shop is teaming with plants and bright colours and the new addition to Leith comes with a social and environmental sustainability focus. To reduce plastic, the team have installed a pix-&-mix style soil refill station, alongside a commitment to donating 25p to Trees for Life for every plant purchased. The people of Leith have a real soft spot for local businesses trying to make a difference, so Green. Leith is ticking a lot of our boxes!
As well as plants, the store also stocks a healthy range of plant accessories, including self-watering tools, seed kits, and Eco-plant pots supplied by women’s cooperatives that support the employment of women within countries including Kenya, Sri Lanka, Ghana.
Owner Andrew and his fashionable team are an absolute delight to speak to and on my first visit to the Leith shop they gave me lots of handy plant tips, including how to get rid of the dreaded houseplant gnats.
