I love culture and I love the work of the lovely people who work here. This is THE place for neighbourhood culture work in St. Pauli. When I do stuff with the local primary school for children I can always count on the ladies and gentlemen here to get hold of a decent rentable room to hold workshops. It is a place for children as well as adults, as you can participate in classes and stuff according to your age group. It of course works best if you stay a little longer in town.
They organize neighbourhood cafés. You can take classes in theatre, arts, capoeira, see concerts, look for flea markets and every other thing that makes a neighbourhood lovely, e.g. you can repair your bike here, as they do self-help-bike-workshops. I highly recommend checking out their program. Plus: the GWA is situated nearby the harbour, which means: the lovely views over the docks after a workshop or concert are included.
The opening times depend on the activities. Those mentioned below mean that there are activities on a weekly basis at the GWA. Please check their program.
