My perfect weekend starts with a long, elaborate breakfast with a big variety of cheese, meat, jam and other delicious spreads, probably an egg and definitely a looot of coffee. As much as I love having a relaxed breakfast at home, I also highly enjoy going out to a café. One of my favorite places is the Zuckermonarchie (sugar monarchy).
Once you enter the rooms of this wonderful little café in St.Pauli, you find yourself in a romantic, beautifully decorated world full of pom-poms, garlands and carefully selected furniture and dishes with a love for detail. The beautifully arranged breakfast is served on an étagère and it includes different types of cheese and meat (from a local butcher), fruit and yogurt as well as croissants, homemade jam and eggs. But probably the best part – since the warm-hearted team of the Zuckermonarchie manufactures delicious little treats like cake pops, tartlets, cupcakes or macarons - every breakfast comes with one of these sweet preciosities. Just choose your favorite piece! Of course you can also just come for their cakes, which are incredibly tasty. However, if you would like to visit on the weekends to enjoy their breakfast, I highly recommend to make reservations (you can easily reserve a table online).
All the delicacies are produced without artificial ingredients and only organic eggs are used. You can also order their sweets for weddings or any other event and if you want to learn how to make cupcakes, just book one of their classes.
