I never really understood fans of birdwatching but I have always been a fan of creative graffiti art and urban murals. This location mixes both and creates a spot that you can find only in Krakow.
I first noticed the impressive bird mural on the wall of one of the blocks while I was driving; I thought it was such a beautiful addition to the communist era blocks so I looked it up. I was happily surprised when I read that there is a number of similar murals decorating this housing estate.
The block complex management of "Osiedle Na Kozlowce" approached the artist Wojciech Rokosz because of the surplus funds of the housing cooperative. The artist had to revamp the blocks that were built in the 60s and 70s with his art. He decided to paint detailed murals of birds that can be found in this area.
What makes these murals noteworthy is that they are not centered around politics or any present social issues which is usually the case in Poland. They all have vibrant colors that brighten up the whole neighborhood. I am sure that you will not be disappointed if you decide to visit and who knows? You may even take on birdwatching as a new hobby!
