Every time I want to have a heart-warming dish that will satisfy my hunger I choose Pielmieni od Zurawia. Pielmieni is the Ukrainian variation of a meal that exists in many countries. Basically, it is a homemade pastry with different meat fillings.
This restaurant was opened during the pandemic by a very friendly and positive Ukrainian family. Don't expect any fancy bistro decoration; just two tables with a few chairs. Even though the decor is quite simple, the passion that the owners put into the food makes up for it. They are always willing to have a chat about food, their business, or just about anything.
The menu is on the wall and there are variations with meat, fish, shrimp or mushrooms. I usually go for the chicken and shrimp option which was suggested to me by the owner. At first I was not convinced but when I tried them I was positively surprised. Everything is prepared on the premises and they start cooking once you place your order.
The restaurant is located next to Azory park and it is just a 15-minute drive from Krakow's city centre. If you want to have a stroll in a less touristy area of Kraków then visit the park and then have your lunch at Pielmieni od Zurawia.
