There are two things I particularly love about this place: they’re dead serious about quality but they still remain completely laid back and unpretentious. Placek Wolnica is one of the best places for pizza napoletana in Kraków, and definitely the leading one in terms of creativity.
Janek, the head pizzaiolo, is a true master of his craft. He makes Placek Wolnica special by adding new seasonal pizzas every couple of months. In the summer, he paired mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, anchovies, lemon zest and topped it all off with ricotta-stuffed zucchini flowers. It looked divine and tasted even better. After that one, I kept coming back for more unusual yet so well-crafted pairings, such as broad beans with chanterelles or Moroccan-style lamb with pine nuts and mint. Every visit there is a journey, and if you feel like going for the classic, I’m sure you also won’t leave disappointed. Be sure to grab a glass of local craft beer, too!
Keep in mind Placek Wolnica is a very casual place, designed for a quick bite paired with a pint. It’s perfect if you’d like to grab something delicious without making it unnecessarily formal!
