After hearing rave reviews from friends, I finally decided to try the hidden gem that is Mercy Brown for myself. The bar itself is located past a coat check, down a hallway and up a flight of stairs in a hidden courtyard of a historic tenement building. However, once you find it you won't regret the hunt.
The menu is short and simple and all concoctions are 21 PLN. The decor brings you back to the roaring 20s and is a small glimpse of what life was like in Krakow back then. The staff is very friendly and helpful and unlimited free water is provided, something I have not seen much outside of the United States. The drinks themselves are very clever mixes using both local alcohols and well-known imports but all mixed with a Polish twist and fresh ingredients.
It is a definite must stop while in Krakow and a pleasant change to the clubs and bars of the Market Square or Bohemian bars of Kazimierz. There are special events and cabarets as well as guest mixologists every so often, so it is worth checking their Facebook page for upcoming events.
