One of my favourite running trail routes. Can be easily hiked/walked if running isn't your thing.
It's a perfect combination of the calm nature of Monsanto Park and a finish in quite touristic Belem. If a picturesque walk/run isn't enough of a reward for you, you can treat yourself with a pastel de nata in the end. You can either queue in a legendary Pasteis de Belem or grab one in less crowded Manteigaria, which I consider the best.
Our running route starts in Arroios, I run to Alameda metro station, where I take a metro to the final stop of a red line São Sebastião. You continue to run uphill along the El Corte Inglés supermarket, then you turn to the right and run across the park until you reach the parking spot of Monsanto Acesso Este Campolide. I follow different marked routes through Monsanto Park. It's almost 14 km with an elevation gain of 396m. Can be demanding if you aren't in your best shape, with lots of uphills and downhills, but definitely worth the struggle. Happy to provide the map, if you would like to try running it.
