It can be difficult to find somewhere to eat or grab a coffee in Greenwich, which isn’t a chain, but if you’re looking for a down-to-earth place, close to but still away from the bustle, Coffee Island is the place for you. Just a short walk from the centre, Coffee Island is right on the river, and you will be warmly welcomed by Menul, Dave and Chappy the dog when you arrive.
They have their own brand of coffee and homemade food using fresh ingredients, including baguettes, salad, shortbread and my personal favourite, the wraps, of which you can choose from falafel, halloumi, breakfast and more. My go-to is the breakfast wrap or the halloumi wrap. While both brilliant and filling, the breakfast wrap is extra filling – so which one I go for depends on how hungry I am that day!
