In an area which feels full of chains, support local businesses by visiting family-owned & run Crown Café, which sits where Strand meets Aldwych, right by Waterloo Bridge. This welcoming café is in the perfect location for if you want food or drinks when visiting Central London, including Soho and the many theatres nearby, or the Southbank, as you just need to pop across the river.
They offer great service, I always feel well looked after, whether it is in the afternoon & evening when it’s a little quieter, or at lunch when there is a queue out the door for their sandwiches. They have a large variety of homely drinks, sandwiches, paninis, hot meals and cakes. Personally, I'm a big fan of their sandwiches and they make a great cup of tea. Oh, and make sure to try the pastel de nata!
