London is known for its huge selection of restaurants serving cuisine from all around the globe, and Lahpet is one of the only venues serving authentic Burmese fare in the city.
Located in the heart of trendy Shoreditch, Lahpet certainly fits in with the district. Featuring snug booths, fancy lighting, and a rounded bar area, the restaurant’s furnishings are the epitome of chic.
I made a dinner reservation at Lahpet for a special occasion, and I felt that it fit the bill. The food was nourishing and exotic, and my friends and family couldn’t help but exclaim that they’d never tasted anything like it before.
I chose the restaurant as the menu featured some great vegan options (I was trialling ‘veganary’) but there are also plenty of meat and vegetarian options too.
My choice? A tofu noodle dish served with sweet soy, peanuts, pickled mustard greens, and pea shoots. Swimming in a thick and creamy base, I could barely believe it was vegan.
Neither super cheap nor extremely expensive, Lahpet was the perfect choice for a delicious dinner in creative surroundings. If you’re in London seeking tasty yet unusual food to sample, it’s time to head to Lahpet.
