If you're a museum lover London is a great place to be! London has some world-class museums and you can spend hours wandering around. For people like me, with a 9-5 job, that often means that the only time I can visit museums is on the weekends which is also the busiest time. Thankfully I’ve found a great solution to this - Museum Lates.
Museum Lates is a concept that as the name suggests is essentially a late-night opening (once a month or once a week) when you can explore the exhibitions without the day-trip crowds getting in your way. The Late nights are mostly adults only and usually have a curated program including music, performances, discussions, and more. Along with the program, usually there is a selection of food and drinks on-site for their lates which makes for a great night out with friends or a date.
To find out when a museum you’re interested in has a Late event check their website or just google ‘Museum Lates London’ for the latest events. Some museums require booking a free ticket so check in advance. Here are some of my favourites: The British Museum is open till 20:30 every Friday, perfect to get your dose of culture pre-diner. The Science Museum is another great option, open late last Wednesday of every month with themed events, a drinks bar, a quiz, and even a silent disco. The Natural History Museum has been recommended a lot by friends and it's next on my list.
