The Bond Street area is chock full of boutiques selling very expensive shoes, bags, and clothes. You might wonder-what happens to the stuff that doesn't sell? Fortunately, some of it doesn't go far, and it's waiting for you to snap up the bargains. The Music Room Mayfair hosts almost daily sample sales from luxury brands: mens, womens, shoes, and even homeware. You can pick up very well-made items that sell for hundreds of pounds for a snip, and feel smug while doing so.
Sign up for their mailing list and check their Instagram regularly, since most sales last only a day or even a few hours. It's luxury shopping without the price tag, and (mostly) without the guilt. If you want a lovely experience afterwards, walk right next door to the enormous Gray's Antique Market: while most things here will be out of the range for a casual buyer, there are sometimes lovely bargains of antique jewellery or porcelain to be found, and it's a treat for the eyes.
