An absolute gem has been up and running for about a year on Hampstead High Street. Oliviya, a family-owned business, brings authentic flavors to the London scene.
From the moment you step in, you are greeted with a friendly staff and a warm atmosphere centered around the color green. Surely, to underline the popular color in Lebanese landscapes from, cedar to olive trees.
Although the space might feel a bit tight, you quickly forget as soon as you're seated and browsing through the menu. The staff will kindly advise on portion sizes, but let your heart choose whatever it needs: it will be delicious.
We booked a table for 8 and ordered a hefty amount of food. Each one of us started with our famous ayran yogurt drink, a staple that pairs with every dish. We ordered a mix of hot and cold mezze, salads and mixed grill platters. You know a Lebanese place is authentic when their toum dip is on point ... and it was!
My favorites were the meat and kafta skewers, with the cheese rolls, hummos and arayes. But honestly, everything tastes like a big hug. It definitely burst the London bubble there for a minute, and I am very grateful.
Always remember ... life's too short to die on an empty stomach — so make it count!
