Rinkoffs is a living legacy of the East End of London's past waves of immigration, and a business that has grown and adapted with the times.
Hyman Rinkoff started it all in 1911. Since then, many have found the time-honored staples of Jewish baking like beigels with smoked salmon and cream cheese, cheesecake, babka, rugelach, and discovered new Instagram-friendly classics like the "crodough" and vegan and gluten-free cakes.
At most times of the day or night (Rinkoffs is helpfully open from early morning until evening), the outdoor patio is packed with everyone from latte-sipping hipster bikers to parents treating their kids to long-time residents who can remember the area before the postwar build of the 1960s.
Rinkoffs (which has another branch in Vallance Road nearby) is a big operation, supplying the hungry bankers in Canary Wharf and the City with their fix of baked goods. Over time, the goods and the area have changed, but the quality (and the deliciousness) remains the same.
