I LOVE Thai food... If I have to choose one meal to eat forever it'd be Pad Thai, it's perfect! Veg, noodles, those yummy crumbly peanuts and a squeeze of lime. Sounds like the easiest dish to wok up in the world but I've become quite a connoisseur. Only the crumbliest of peanuts will do now and a squeeze of lemon instead of lime just won't cut it for me anymore.
On the advice of a work mate I tried out an off the beaten track local Thai restaurant which she described as –nothing special to look at but really delicious and BYOB- right up my street! I've never been impressed by a wine recommendation at a Thai restaurant, it's not quite their forte so the fact I could choose my own and bring it along made me extra keen to try this hot tip out.
The restaurant itself is tiny but the best things come in small packages, what the restaurant (café) lacks in lavish décor it makes up for in charm, it is run by a jolly Thai lady and the staff are all so polite and patient. The food is very reasonably priced and we tried the tender lamb Massaman curry which was sweet and aromatic. Tamarind duck, which wasn't too fatty and cooked to perfection, a gorgeous noodle dish and coconut rice. What a local gem!
