Although rooftop hangouts in London are not popular, as soon as it stops raining, that’s probably where you’ll find everyone.
Right outside the Monument stop on the District line, Wagtail awaits you!
We found the booking experience with Wagtail very easy and straightforward, with no cancellation fee per person for bookings before 8 pm. This cute gem has both an outdoor and indoor seating area and serves drinks as well as full-on mains. Depending on your mood and the purpose of your visit, you could either sit on the couches with a low coffee table of sorts or opt for a proper dining seat.
They can accommodate large parties, and it can get quite busy. The mood shifts from a soft lounge vibe in the early afternoon to a proper summer hits playlist in the evening.
Their cocktails are great, and some have even won awards. We went for classics such as Espresso and Passionfruit Martinis, and one of their signature cocktails. We had our drinks alongside some nibbles and our server was kind enough to offer us a portion of olives on the house just for leaving him a google review! It seems this place is quite new and slowly growing, but we had a great experience overall.
If you prefer a more lowkey visit then make sure to call ahead of time and request a table away from the speakers :)
