When I’m looking for Mexican done right, I eat at La Cabañita. They don’t just slap beans and rice on a plate and call it good. They take the time to prepare a flavorful dish with a beautiful presentation.
The food… Oh my… The food is so bomb! It’s slow cooked, rich, and flavorful. I usually order a bean, cheese, and rice burrito at every Mexican joint I go to, but La Cabañita has me wanting to try new things. I love their vegetarian tacos and burritos. There’s something distinct about their beans, almost cinnamon-like, but not at all sweet. Overall, the taste is extremely authentic.
The ambiance is fast paced and loud. It’s a little louder than the average which doesn’t make for the best conversations. Yet, it almost feels as if you’re in your distant family’s kitchen. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful mural.
The parking is tricky. If I’m lucky, I find a place on Verdugo Road. When it’s dinner, I circle the block a couple times and typically settle for a spot on Ocean View or Sunview Drive.
The customer service at La Cabañita is exceptional. The waiters are friendly. More importantly, they’re happy, swift, and knowledgeable about the menu. I’ve never had to ask for a water or chip refill. They’re always on top of it, and that’s how it’s done!
Delish and elegant Mexican!
