I have revealed my favorite food in LA, Kippy's vegan ice cream (check my article), and will now share my number one favorite activity in Los Angeles.
Officially known as "The Marvin Braude Bike Path," we locals just call it "going for a beach bike ride". Los Angeles beaches run wide and deep, and the best way to see ALL of them is by bike. The bike path is obviously most crowded in the summertime, but I enjoy it all-year-round, and I do it at least once a month. I usually start the trail in Santa Monica by the pier. Then I take it all the way to Manhattan Beach, eat lunch, and then ride back home. The ride south is usually harder because the wind is at my front, but that just makes the ride home all the more fun with the wind pushing me along!
I start in Santa Monica near all the athletic performers on the beach adult playgrounds, down to Venice Beach past the eccentric people on the boardwalk, then on to Marina del Rey. The only part of the bike path where I have to ride on a city street is about a half mile stretch in Marina del Rey. I ride past million-dollar yachts, then come to the most "beachy" beaches in LA in the South Bay. It is a delightful way to spend a day seeing the beaches and getting exercise!
