Arte, the brainchild of Erika Hallgren and Tim Hardenstedt, is the quintessential Swedish design boutique you didn't know Malmö needed. When two personalities that ooze creativity meet, Arte is what you get.
A modernist basement invites you into a concept space that focuses on two things: objects and Home Fragrances. A beautiful distillation of the store's offering, while leaving room to grow and expand.
Candles are the store's key offerings. But not just any regular old candle. A limited collection of 5 signature scents developed by Erika, made using natural soy wax and essential oils. From rebellious and adventurous smells like Ruby on the run to warmer emotional smells like Mothership, journeying through Arte's candle collection is a unique experience. One that leaves you thinking, "Alright, now I am definitely a candle person."
In the Objects section, the boutique provides space for creative houses and creators like Normal Object Factory, which combines Swedish and Taiwanese design to create everyday functional objects. Bulb Club, a Malmö-based creative studio, also features in this section, upstreaming candle holders, ashtrays, and other glass objects into Light holders. In addition to these, there are some beautiful fabrics and prints by local photographers and artists.
Through Arte, Erika combines her work in design, sustainability, urban development, and experience curating events at lifestyle stores like AB Smaland. Tim, a brilliant graphic designer and self-produced musician, is a steady presence, keeping the store running and working as a freelance web designer, while Erica handles the ideation and expansion of Arte.
